This will be my last podcast before Election Day.
If you have not already voted in early voting, get out there and vote on November 4. And don't forget: democracy requires that we not go to sleep after November 4. If we want to see change, we have to make it happen. Nobody is going to do it for us. And for a bit of fun, I got a last-minute Podcaster Quote of the Week! Music Today:

Dear readers,
The fine folks at MoveOn.org have asked us bloggers to lend some space to a message for all Obama supporters. Basically, it reminds us that democracy only works when we work it. I've never needed MoveOn.org's permission to post any of their messages (more exactly, they've never objected to my posting their letters), so I continue that fine tradition here: TOP 5 REASONS OBAMA SUPPORTERS SHOULDN'T REST EASY 1. The polls may be wrong. This is an unprecedented election. No one knows how racism may affect what voters tell pollsters—or what they do in the voting booth. And the polls are narrowing anyway. In the last few days, John McCain has gained ground in most national polls, as his campaign has gone even more negative. 2. Dirty tricks. Republicans are already illegally purging voters from the rolls in some states. They're whipping up hysteria over ACORN to justify more challenges to new voters. Misleading flyers about the voting process have started appearing in black neighborhoods. And of course, many counties still use unsecure voting machines. 3. October surprise. In politics, 15 days is a long time. The next McCain smear could dominate the news for a week. There could be a crisis with Iran, or Bin Laden could release another tape, or worse. 4. Those who forget history... In 2000, Al Gore won the popular vote after trailing by seven points in the final days of the race. In 1980, Reagan was eight points down in the polls in late October and came back to win. Races can shift—fast! 5. Landslide. Even with Barack Obama in the White House, passing universal health care and a new clean-energy policy is going to be hard. Insurance, drug and oil companies will fight us every step of the way. We need the kind of landslide that will give Barack a huge mandate.
If you agree that we shouldn't rest easy, please sign up to volunteer at your local Obama
office by clicking here:
We're just two weeks away from turning the page on the Bush era—but we can't afford to take our eye off the prize.
We've got to keep pushing until the very end.
Thanks for all you do. –Adam, Lenore, Adam G., Patrick S., and the rest of the team

Present were Kenny, the Listner Who Knew Me When and I. Holly was somewhere else and never joined us, so we decided to go forward. We discuss Drew Ferguson's book The Screwed Up Life of Charlie the Second, and we go off on more than one tangent. Basically, it was two friends having a lot of fun on a podcast, and we know you will enjoy it! The corrected link to Kenny's blog is: http://kenproffitt.blogspot.com/index/ Music Today:

What happens if nobody gets 270 electoral votes on November 4?
A letter from a listener provides the inspiration for this week's episode. Feel free to correct me on my facts, because I'm not a lawyer. The book club will be starting on October 19. We got delayed because Fairy Princess Holly had the audacity to turn a year older last week. How dare she? We will be recording tomorrow night, and it's still not too late to fill my slots! Connecticut joins the states of Massachusetts and California in legally recognizing same-sex unions!
The world awaits the Alaska legislature's report on Sarah Palin's possible political misconduct. John McCain is losing support amongst working-class white voters (finally)! The book club will be starting on October 12. The book is Drew Ferguson's work "The Screwed Up Life of Charlie the Second." I have Kenny, the Listener Who Knew Me When and Fairy Princess Holly filling two of my slots, and I still have slots to fill. Come fill my slots, people!

I was preoccupied with stuff yesterday and missed my chance to post the McCain-Keating video when it debuted on YouTube. Apparently, there had been an audio problem, so waiting turned out to be beneficial after all. So here it is, and take this as yet another reason we need the real change Barack Obama will bring to Washington:

With a past like this, is it any wonder that John McCain's newest political strategy involves character assassination against Barack Obama? Naturally, he hopes most people have forgotten that the "maverick" who "cleaned up Washington" was in fact the target of a congressional investigation himself. But, not in this day of YouTube and bloggers and podcasters who won't allow the truth to be swept under the rug.
The following is a preview of a video that will become available at 12 noon, EDT, on keatingeconomics.com. Watch and learn more about the so-called "Original Maverick." And be sure to check this blog for a link to--and if possible, an embedded video of--the documentary. Then, understand why it's important to vote on November 4.

Effective immeiately, I am claiming the title of "The Original Podcasting Maverick," because I sayt hat I am, therefore I am.
Even if you say I am not the Original Podcasting Maverick, I say that I am because I am, therefore Iam. QED
Basically, one big, long rant about the so-called Vice Presidential "debate" and General Electric/NBC's fawning over Sarah Palin's newly-found status as a "successful debater." Music Today:
