As a followup to my episode from yesterday, I am posting this clip from Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Once again, Jon Stewart has found a way to show just how ridiculous this administration is and how much they think we don't notice that they're saying the same things over and over again.
Thanks to Vittoria Conn for sending me this link. You go, girl!

General Petraeus delivers his message.
President Bush delivers the same message. How many ways can this administration repackage the phrase "stay the course"? Better yet, why are we putting up with it? Music Today:

After a few days to process the predicted "dog and pony show" of a report that General David Petraeus and Ryan Crocker presented to Congress, I believe I can sum up the major points in three-word sentences:
We're feigning progress. Stay the course. No real plan. Manipulate the statistics. Misrepresent troop withdrawal. Stall, stall, stall. Delay further decision-making. Wave the flag. Hope they accept. Repeat catch phrases. Dodge the questions. Question their patriotism. And a slightly more wordy answer: Realize that there is a presidential election next year and the Constitution has term-limited the puppet put in office by the NeoCons. Delay any substantial decision-making until after the presidential primaries are done and prepare to dump this problem on the next president. Continue to dodge any questions and refuse to accept any hint of accountability. Ride this out and get ready for the book deal.

As we all prepare for the "dog and pony show" surrounding General Petraeus' report on the "progress" shown in Iraq, I thought I'd share a little YouTube video MoveOn.org put together. If the talk of "progress" in Iraq coming from President Bush's lips sounds like deja vu, it isn't. It's just the propaganda machine churning out its one message.
And for those of us who wonder why Katie Couric got (and is keeping) her anchor position on the CBS Evening News, you can stop wondering. Listen as she plays her part of echoing the White House-approved talking points: How long are we going to sit by idly and continue to be lied to? What will it take to get us finally to wake up?

I'm going out of town, but I wanted to get out an episode before I left.
Beloved opera star Luciano Pavarotti dies this week at 71. He will be missed by many. Rev. D. James Kennedy (aka "Mr. 'Marriage=One Man + One Woman' Bumpersticker'") dies at 76. He will be missed by the Republican party. Speaking of anti-gay-marriage hypocrites, Larry Craig is flip-flopping on whether or not to resign from the Senate after his little "flip-flopping" episode in the airport bathroom. He will be missed by Fox News. All on this week's episode, which is available for your aural pleasure here. Music Today:

Lies! Sex! Scandal! Resignations! It's gotta be hard to be a Republican these days!
Press Secretary Tony Snow joins the stampede of people heading for the exits at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Larry Craig will resign from the Senate after he realizes he can't get anybody to believe he was set up, entrapped, or browbeat by the media. There is a spiritual principle at work here, and I discuss it. Podcasting mayhem at its finest can be found here. Music Today:
