In the ongoing fight to keep the tollbooths off the information superhighway, we have many allies who understand the longterm consequences of doing away with Net Neutrality. John Kerry is one such ally, and he has checked in with Save The Internet.com and provided a guest blog entry of the progress of the Senate version of the bill.
Let me say once again that Net Neutrality is something that we can not afford to lose. If the telecommunications companies get the right to charge exorbitant amounts to ensure that a website downloads quickly--or at all--then the internet as we know it will be gone. Podcasts, blogs, personal websites, politically and socially active sites, etc., may not be able to survive in the reality of an internet without Net Neutrality. You can help stop this by contacting your Senators today! Stay Powerful!

I am back in school now, and everything is going great.
I anticipate the classes being a little more challenging, as they should be, but I am ready for the challenge! Due to the better sound quality of my mic, I have recorded new voiceovers for the intro, contact and outro parts of my show.
Hopefully, these sound better than the old ones. My life is going great, so I'll get to the point. I talked about net neutrality one time before, and since then, the House of Representatives has passed a bill that would gut net neutrality and slow or block access to websites purely at the discretion of the telecommunications companies. This bill would also take away local communities' ability to negotiate with cable companies for their franchises. This bill has been either ignored or misrepresented by mainstream media, and only the blogsphere and podosphere have been talking facts. Join in the fight to keep the net neutral by contacting your Senators and voting. You still have the power in this country; use it or lose it! Music today: "God Save the Internet" by The Broadband. Listen to and download the song at http://www.savetheinternet.com/broadband.html "Dubya" by PodSafeAudio.com artists The Swim Team. Intro Music: "Deep Cycle Discharge" by PMN artists Derek James and Simon K. Everything is going great here.
I am still out of school and the job is going great. I will be in summer school, due to the way this accelerated degree program is set up. I don't mind that, since it will be only two more terms and I will be a college graduate. Yeehaw! This week, I received some guidance to go back to a more spiritual episode and discuss the idea of affirmative prayer. It's different from the prayer most people may have learned, and it is a powerful tool for creating the kind of life you want to have. Listen in for more. ![]() ![]() ![]() Despite the fact that Iraq now has an elected national leader with a fully appointed cabinet, and Al-Zarqawi has been assassinated, President Bush has still rejected calls for a withdrawal of our troops. This call has come not only within this country, but within Iraq as well. Congress seems just as unlikely to call for a withdrawal any time soon, despite the fact that they hold the purse strings for this operation. The excuses for staying in Iraq have grown thin, frayed, and are completely full of holes, but everybody seems to keep pretending the Emperor is not naked. The economic and human costs of staying in Iraq are too great to risk staying there much longer, we need an exit plan, and we need it now! In times past, people have used fasting for spiritual and physical cleansing, and often as a means of protest when all other measures fail. When our elected officials turn deaf ears to the people whose interests they are supposed to represent and listen only to multinational corporations who stand to benefit from our continued occupation of Iraq, we must take some radical steps to get those same officials' attention. Will you consider joining me and what may be millions others in fasting and putting our bodies on the line to bring home the men and women who have put their bodies on the line far longer than was needed? If enough people do this, it may finally get somebody's attention. Click on the TroopsHomeFast graphic on my blogpage, or go to this link. Thanks in advance, and Stay Powerful! David

Note: The link was not working correctly. Hopefully this will correct the problem.-David
I don't normally watch Comedy Central's The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, but this clip might just make a regular viewer out of me. I saw the link on the Human Rights Campaign website, so I clicked on it. Here's the link, which includes four different videos. It's worth watching. http://www.comedycentral.com/motherload/index.jhtml?ml_video=70273 Warning: make sure you're not drinking anything. I am not responsible for any property damage resulting from spewed liquids.

Sorry this episode was late. I was a busy person this past week, but things should be slower come next week.
I am done with school for a couple of weeks, and I am looking forward to the break. The job is going great, and I am enjoying doing what I am doing. The Federal Marriage Amendment was defeated in the US Senate this past week, only getting 50 votes out of the required 67 to send it to the House. What's more, two Sentors, Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Judd Gregg (R-NH) changed from a "yes" to a "no" since the last time this worthless amendment came up for a vote. Many thanks to both of my Senators, Carl Levin (D-MI) and Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), who also voted "no" on this worthless amendment! This amendment vote is nothing but a political strategy to get a checklist of who voted which way so that the Religious Right can target the "no" voters with negative campaigning and publicity. The House of Representatives is supposed to vote on a similar amendment soon, and it is not expected to pass, but we must make sure. Contact your representative and tell him/her you don't want discrimination written into the Supreme Law of the Land. G'day to any Aussies who might be listening in, as the podcast was added to a directory in the land of Oz. Music today: Sensory Motor "Note to the Bringer of Life" from PodsafeAudio.com Classic Graffiti, "Raven"-check Classic Graffitti out at http://www.myspace.com/graffittiguitar David Ippolito "Common Ground" from the Podsafe Music Network and his website http://www.thatguitarman.com Intro Music "Deep Cycle Discharge" by PMN artists Derek James and Simon K. Thanks to our fair-minded friends in the Senate (and two new ones added, by the way!), the Constitution was not raped to give George W. Bush any kind of political advantage at the expens of GLBT people. Now, how about getting us out of Iraq and getting George W. Bush out of the White House?
If your Senator is listed below, there are two actions that are very important:
Here's the email: Dear David, In the battle for fairness, the Federal Marriage Amendment suffered a resounding defeat this morning in the U.S. Senate. Not only did not a single Senator on our side buckle to pressure and advertising campaigns from right-wing groups to switch their vote, but we gained two Senators, Senators Gregg (R-NH) and Specter (R-PA), who voted the other way in 2004. President Bush and the Republican leadership gambled their dwindling political capital on a discriminatory amendment and came up empty. To read the coverage in the press, visit http://www.hrc.org/voteno/headlines.htm. Thank you for your crucial support. We have been working 24/7 to get this message of fairness out across the country and to leaders on Capitol Hill, but HRC's secret weapon has been you. You sent more than 250,000 messages to Capitol Hill. Many of you gave time, energy and funds to the cause. Your voices ensured that the message of equality was heard loud and clear. Your support has made all the difference, enabling HRC to assemble a strong lobby team, work daily with the news media, provide vital support to our friends in the Senate, and work daily with a broad-based coalition of over 120 organizations and with religious leaders opposed to discrimination. Please take a moment to take one more action, and thank your Senators if they stood with our community today. By calling the capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121, you can reach the offices of the Senators who voted this morning to keep discrimination and bias out of the Constitution. A list of Senators who voted with us appears below. This is a day to celebrate. But HRC is already laying the groundwork for what will undoubtedly be an even harder-fought effort in the volatile, right-wing House of Representatives. Speaker Boehner has said today that he will bring the FMA up for a vote in July. Our work is far from finished. We're counting on you to continue your active, vocal and determined support of the Human Rights Campaign and the fight for equality. Thank you.

I'm baaaack!!!!
Thanks to everybody for the patience over the last two weeks as I recovered from the effects of the cold. The voice is completely better than it was last week, and I am ready to go at this thing again! I am going to experiment with talking a little less and playing a little more music. This week, I play a clip from Ken Lay's press conference after learning that he was (shock, horror!) convicted by the jury. The clip comes from the Democracy Now! podcast. The clip is truly bizarre, and I don't mind pointing out the weirdness. Music today: Brother Love "Summertime" from the Podsafe Music Network RoGer "Selling Souls" from Podsafe Audio.com David Ippolito "The Enron Song: Where Dat Money Go?" from PMN and his website Heidi Bethune "You'll Never Win". Check out Heidi's MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/heidibethune. Intro Music "Deep Cycle Discharge" by PMN artists Simon James and Derek K.
