The audacity of some of the more extreme right-wing people never ceases to amaze me. According to this story on PlanetOut.com, Rev. Lonnie W. Latham, a minister in the Southern Baptist church has continuously advocated a resolution calling for gays and lesbians to reject their "sinful, destructive lifestyle," a position which could not be characterized as anything but anti-gay.
Now, this same Rev. Latham was subsequently busted when he asked an undercover policeman to come up to his hotel for oral sex. He was charged with lewdness, a charge which he is fighting. In fact, he has gone as far as to use the Lawrence v. Texas decision to argue that his charge should be dropped, since Lawrence declared all sodomy laws unconstitutional.
Hmm...I'll bet those "activist judges" on the Supreme Court suddenly don't seem so bad after all, do they?
