Fri, 6 November 2009 I catch up my regular listeners on what has been happening for the last few weeks. This is the first That Blue Jeans Guy that I have done on the Mac and with the new mixer, and I'm still getting some things figured out. Please tell me what you think about the sound quality.
I talk about the disappointing loss for same-sex marriage in Maine, and how we can handle this in a way that those who oppose us will not be expecting. It will make a difference if we do not allow ourselves to be dragged down by this occasion. For my fellow SYTYCD fans, just a quick reminder that the So You Think You Can Dance Updates with Michael Sage will resume next week when America gets the vote. Michael and I look forward to bringing you our take on all the dancing! Also, don't forget that anybody who listens is invited to do an episode of "David's Salon" with me. Just have a topic--any topic--and get in touch with me to set up a recording time. Music Today:

Fri, 30 October 2009 Before Kenny arrived, we agreed to do another of the "David's Salon" shows together. What I didn't know was that Kenny was also going to gift me with his well-loved Mac Mini. Finally, I have joined the ranks of the Mac Podcasters! Oh, and did I mention I have a new Peavey 6-channel USB mixer, too? Yeah, and a second Shure microphone. I'm blessed, for sure! With my new "toy" put together, Kenny and I settled down over some adult beverages to discuss politics, religion, energy policy...you know, the light and airy stuff. We did have a great time, and we hope you'll enjoy the fruits of our labors (or was it the labors of two fruits?) Either way, we invite you to join the discussion. Sat, 10 October 2009 For this week's show, I focus on what is perhaps the most unbelievable idea ever to come from a conservative mind: a project to produce a conservative-friendly Bible.
Even if you are not a fan of the Bible or Christianity, this project provides some interesting insights into the mindset of a group of people who have hijacked the term "conservative," and used it for their own selfish purposes. Check out the Conservative Bible Project at Conservapedia.com Come on, you know you wanna listen... Thu, 8 October 2009 On November 12, 2009, the Charter for Compassion will be unveiled to the world at large. The Charter is the result of a year of discussion, friendly debate, and careful consideration of the one core concept all religions and cultures have in common: the Golden Rule. Far from a religious document--which often leads to more division, the Charter is designed to unite us all and remind us of what is most important: treating others as we wish to be treated. I am in the process of planning some kind of event to mark the unveiling of the Charter. Once I know what this event will be, I will announce it on the blog. In the meantime, I invite you to view the trailer for the unveiling of the Charter, and then visiting the Charter's site: charterforcompassion.org Peace, David CHARTER FOR COMPASSION TRAILER from TED Prize on Vimeo. Tue, 6 October 2009 Casey Stratton is a Michigan native and a musician who has made the trek from independent artist to signed artist, and then back to independent again.Casey's newest album (his twelfth regular album) is called Memories and Photographs, and it is a trip through the emotional experience of letting go of a relationship and the resulting catharsis. Casey joined me recently for an over-the-phone interview during which we discuss his newest album, his musical career so far, and so much more. Needless to say, I feature a lot of his music. Featured tracks are: "Not the Garden" from Signs of Life From *Memories and Photographs*: "Shut You Down" "The Most Human Thing" "Sea Change" "I Fail Again" And Casey's non-album cover of the Michael Jackson classic "Man in the Mirror" Check out CaseyStratton.com for all the latest on Casey's music, his touring schedule, and lots of free stuff.
